The liquid annular seals used in the pumps are known to raise the dry critical speeds by a considerable amount. The mathematical model of the liquid annular seal is similar to the bearing model. The dynamic coefficients are calculated from the given seal geometric data and operating condition. Two models are available: one is based on Black & Jenssen and the other is based on Childs 1983.
